School of Art + Design Experiential, Identity[Client] San Diego State University
2021
Signage and wayfinding concept developed for the School of Art + Design. Derived from the campus’s inherent architectural forms, history and community.
The School of Art + Design is both physically and visually isolated from the larger college campus. The proposed art direction celebrates and extentuates this pre-existing uniqueness.
Reserved in its use of teal accents amongst off-white facades, enigmatic terracing, hidden forms, and endless staircases become the inspiration for creating a system recognizable to inhabitants and intriguing to visitors.
The logo redesign maintains elements of the previous lockup with a refreshed composition, typeface, and allocation of color.

Floor level icons are abstracted from each level’s unique architecural cutouts. Stacked icons, classroom numbers, and restrooms are then composed into signage graphics.
